Juntae Kim

South Korean designer Juntae Kim founded his eponymous Seoul-based brand, JUNTAE KIM, in 2021 after earning an MA in fashion from Central Saint Martins. The brand’s philosophy centers on “unraveling binary constructions: true beauty is not about constraining the body but loosening it.” By reinterpreting historical women’s costumes as contemporary menswear, JUNTAE KIM pioneers a novel, genderless fashion. The brand juxtaposes traditional crafts with modern techniques to revitalize ancient textiles and skills. Kim seeks to dismantle conventional notions of beauty and binary fashion, adding complexity through an East-Asian and Korean perspective. In 2023, Kim was shortlisted as a semi-finalist for the LVMH Prize.
