Guo Pei is the first and only Chinese Guest Member of the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode. She is renowned for her exquisite palace embroidery craftsmanship, which seamlessly blends traditional clothing art with contemporary design language. For over 20 years, Guo has designed gowns for distinguished hosts and performers of CCTV’s Annual Spring Festival Gala. She was also the designer of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games Award Ceremony Gowns. In April 2016, she was named one of TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World.
Guo frequently collaborates with top museums around the world, such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Musée des Arts décoratifs in Paris, the V&A Museum in London, and many more. She combines traditional Chinese embroidery techniques with avant-garde silhouettes to create her couture pieces and has devoted herself to conserving while innovating the traditional art of embroidery.
