As the co-founder of SHUSHU/TONG, Liushu Lei graduated from London College of Fashion in 2015 and, together with his designer partner Yutong Jiang, established the fashion brand in Shanghai. He has been nominated for The International Woolmark Prize and recognised among the “10 Asian Designers to Watch”. As the creative director of SHUSHU/TONG, he accentuates an alternative portrayal of femininity infused with strength and contradiction, and aims to defy stereotypical representation of female qualities. Through his complex exploration of fabrics, the label deconstructs and reconstructs quintessentially feminine elements including bowknot, frill, mesh, ruffle, embroidery, and pearl, to create a SHUSHU/TONG girl who is full of strength and tension.
