Matteo Lamandini

MTL Studio is an Italian menswear brand founded in 2018 by designer Matteo Lamandini. Born in Modena, Lamandini first studied accounting with the intention of pursuing a career in banking, but soon realised that his true fascination lay in the refined details, restrained colour palette and formal elegance of bankers’ attire. This early observation became a lasting source of inspiration, shaping his interest in classic tailoring reinterpreted through a contemporary and personal lens.

Lamandini later studied at the European Academy in Bologna and continued his fashion design education at Istituto Marangoni. After graduating, he began his career as Assistant Menswear Designer at MSGM before joining the Menswear Style and Product Department at MARNI, where he further developed his creative vision.

In 2014, Lamandini won the Designer for Tomorrow competition, hosted by Tommy Hilfiger. This led to the Matteo Lamandini x Tommy Hilfiger capsule collection in Amsterdam and his first independent Spring/Summer 2016 collection, presented during Berlin Fashion Week.

Founded in 2018, MTL Studio is rooted in nostalgia and the reinterpretation of menswear traditions. Combining timeless tailoring with contemporary design, the brand creates a modern wardrobe that celebrates heritage while speaking to today’s generation.
